First Baptist Church Officers,
Committees, and Volunteers for
2011: Our new church committees
for 2011 began Feb. 6.
The list of committees — available on this website — is
based on the Church Survey Sheets
that members submitted, reviewed
by the Nominating Committee, put
into our recommendations and presented
for approval at the Jan. 19
business meeting.
We should mention that not all
requests may have been honored.
Many times, committees are limited
by size, the type of work to be
done, time constraints, terms
required by the by-laws, if physical
work needs to be done and the need
for certain skills.
There can be just simple human
error, too.
When discussing many committees,
names, phone calls, reviewing
our notes and developing the finished
list, as careful as we try to be,
an error can happen.
So we ask that you accept our
2011 Church Committee list and list
of volunteers with the same
Christian love and desire to serve
our Lord that we, the members of
the Nominating Committee, put into
it. If you have any questions please
don't hesitate to contact one of the
Nominating Committee members.

DEACONS CORNER
Dear Church Family,
Part of a deacon's "job" is to look after his
parish. A parish is 13 or
14 families a deacon is
asked to look after and
tend to their needs and
concerns.
Below is a list
of the 16 deacons for
2011 and their parishes.
The families are in
alphabetical order.
You should be contacted
by your deacon
sometime in the next
month or so. He may
call, send a card or letter,
visit or talk with
you before or after a
service.
We are trying to
establish relationships,
so anyone in need or
with a concern will feel
comfortable turning to
his or her deacon.
Regardless of the list
to the right, you may go
to any deacon or minister
for help. The parish
list is designed to
empower, not limit.
Now you know who
you can call or talk to
when you need to reach
out to your Christian
family.
A deacon's service
revolves around helping
those in our church as
well as those in the
community. The parishes
help us help those in
our church better by
allowing us to establish
relationships.
My hope is, as relationships
grow, the need
for someone to call a
deacon will disappear. Your deacon will already know.
